The dive sites are located in and around the Herradura Bay area as well as Isla Tortuga, a region characterized by large volcanic rock formations. Locations are generally just a 15 – 30 minute boat ride from shore. A large concentration of nutrients and plankton, make the visibility range from 30 ft. (10 Mt’s) to 40 ft. (14 Mt’s), however, this is the reason why life is so abundant in the area. While swimming between rocky grottos covered with gorgonians, we will see Angel and Butterfly fish, Puffers, Snappers and large schools of Grunts, Surgeons and Jacks as well as multi colored Parrot fish, Turtles, White Tip sharks, Eagle and Sting rays, Lobsters and many different kinds of eels. During their season (Dec – April) Manta rays and Whale sharks can be seen in the area.

A Full day Tortuga Island trip: Tortuga Island is located 15 miles from Herradura Bay, about 1 hour by boat. It is famous for its beautiful white sand beach, almost the only one on the pacific coast of Costa Rica, and allows great diving and snorkelling. The dives are between 30 ft. (10 Mt’s) to 70 ft. (21 Mt’s) there. Visibility at Tortuga is between 30 ft. (10 Mt’s) and 60 ft. (18 Mt’s) depending on the season and water temperature is in the 80’s, dive two different sites both accompanied by a guide and then enjoy lunch on the island.
